This has been a heavy week for me. I was told that one of my high school classmates ended his life this past week. I did not keep in touch with him but this news hit me very hard. The finality of life can be devastating.
I just want to mention this as some information gained from my own experience. I realize there are so many resources where people can get help and so many people willing to help (this is GREAT)… but this is the reality. When a person gets to the point where suicide becomes a viable (and often preferred) option, they are literally at their end. They have NOTHING left. EVERY OUNCE of one’s energy and spirit is needed just to continue from moment to moment. THERE IS NO RESERVE! To pick up the phone and dial the hotline is akin to asking someone to climb Everest in the middle of winter with no gear… it is not going to happen. In many ways, you do NOT WANT help… you simply want the pain to end.
But there is ONE thing… something SO SIMPLE… something that can literally save lives. I am here today because I have ALWAYS been loved! I was TOLD I was loved. I was SHOWN that I was loved. I was NEVER left to fight this world alone. No matter the situation, people ALWAYS cared and that has made ALL the difference.
This world is so tough. It gets the better of all of us. Please reach out to those you love. TELL them you love them. SHOW them you love them. Be there for them when they might be having troubles being there for themselves. Please take good care of each other.
