You’ve Aged!
Aaahhhh… the joys of working in a middle school… While I DO enjoy working in a middle school… and it IS by choice… there ARE moments. The first few days are ALWAYS fun… the energy is high, the kids are excited, and the flow is generally positive… but the kids are also REAL! REAL REAL!!!
One of my favorite students from last year came out of her classroom, took a look at me, took a few moments to figure out who I was, and then stated very honestly, with the sweetest smile ever, “What happened? You’ve aged!” UUGGGHHHH! ”Ummm, Yup. I have.” There were a few other words that went through my mind but I kept them inside…
I was going to include a picture in this post, but I am much too fragile these days, so I will just include this painting. It is fairly representative… both have a lot of grey, a lot of white, and some unfinished business (in the best of ways! I am hoping this is an amazing school year!) this coming year.
