Ok. I certainly do not mean to offend nor hurt, but I also feel it is important to me to express MY TRUTH… about Charlie Kirk. My exposure to Mr. Kirk is only about a handful of his college debating videos… so it is NOT extensive… admittedly. I do not know about the “professor hit lists” or anything about his podcast or many other aspects of his life. I am ONLY commenting from the videos I saw of this man having conversations with others on college campuses.
What I saw in the videos I watched was an extremely well-read person who had an amazing amount of knowledge which seemed derived from both historical and scientific knowledge and who had the ability to express himself and his ideas both eloquently and intelligently. Yes, I realize I probably saw only the “highlights” and there are many moments I did not see… that MIGHT change my perception. I fully recognize this and accept this, and if there are videos you would like me to watch or articles you think I should read, please send them to me and I WILL look at them… but I would like to make this point.
In watching videos of Charlie Kirk debating, I realized how ignorant I am about A LOT of different issues. There are SO MANY things in this world I THINK I know about… and the reality is there are gaps in my knowledge. My thinking and my beliefs and the way I perceive this world are not as ROCK SOLID as I once believed them to be… and I have A LOT of work to do to be able to discuss issues… SUPER IMPORTANT ISSUES… half as intelligently as Mr. Charlie Kirk. I don’t have to wholly agree with the man to respect the man. I am sorry this happened to him, his family, and all those who loved and cared for him. I am feeling sorry for ALL victims of gun violence in this country…
But I also realize this… if there are SOLUTIONS to the many PROBLEMS we face in this country and the world as a whole, they are going to come about from education, pursuit of knowledge and facts, and open and robust conversations… even if/when we disagree. I just want to send out some love. I care about this world. I care about the people, the places, and all the things that make this our ”home”… for ALL of us. Please be good to each other…
