I try to be a good person. I try to do what is right and I try to make the world in which I live a better place… but sometimes (A LOT, actually) I screw up. I make mistakes. I do things I should not… and others suffer. When this happens, I TRY my best to make amends… to make things right, to the best of my abilities. This is something VERY IMPORTANT to me as an individual. I am not perfect… no one is, but I try to be the best person possible.

Yesterday, I watched a video on YouTube of Representative Erin Koegel of the Minnesota Congress state this sentiment, I am paraphrasing here, “I am not really interested in holding Governor Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison accountable tor the BILLIONS of dollars of fraud that has happened (and continues to happen) here in the state of Minnesota because President Trump is not being held accountable.” Uugghhh… are you implying you are unwilling to do the job the people of Minnesota elected you to do and that you are LEGALLY OBLIGATED to fulfill because “others” have done bad things?

Ummm… WHAT? EXCUSE ME? Did you REALLY just say what I think you said?

When Representative Koegel finished, the very next speaker asked the question, “Where does accountability start?” Accountability and responsibility SHOULD BE PERSONAL. It SHOULD reside deep within each of us and work as a guiding force to make our way through this world… but that is rare these days. We no longer really teach our kids about personal responsibility and how important it is to be accountable for our own actions… it is not really a thing… and so we get to this point.

April 15th has passed. Tax Day! By now, MILLIONS of dollars have been “given” to the state of Minnesota by the residents of this state… money the people of this state have WORKED HARD to earn… and I have ZERO, ABSOLUTELY NONE, not an ounce of confidence this money will be used wisely. Billions of dollars… BILLIONS (these numbers are SO LARGE it is hard for me to even comprehend) have been lost, misused, misappropriated, sent out of the country, and God only knows what else to FRAUD… and Representative Koegel is not interested in holding people accountable? I do not really mean to single out only Representative Koegel. She is simply the one I saw in the video, but we have to start somewhere! FIRST, we need to start to holding ourselves accountable. Without this first action, there is NO WAY to be able to hold others accountable… as we see all too frequently in the world today.

I don’t actually mind paying taxes. I appreciate many of the things that are provided by the government of the United States. I believe, maybe naively and even incorrectly (my views also might be changing by the day) the “government” of the United States wants to help make life “better” for its citizens. I DO have faith in this system and I DO believe it is the best system in the world today… but I also DO believe that mistakes are made. Bad decisions happen, harmful policies are implemented, money is misused, MISTAKES… they happen! I am OK with mistakes… no problem. What I am NOT OK with is a LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY and a LACK OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for those mistakes…
