These days, I gotta admit, I kinda feel helpless. I am just along for the ride. The wide-open surrounded by crazy-beautiful scenery with bald eagles soaring gracefully through an azure sky, lazy, peaceful, and somewhat soothing river I have traveled most of my life has become an angry, constricted, raging passageway of Class V rapids through sheer granite precipices that feel no sentiment of shredding you or your kayak if you come too close. Further, as if the boiling rage of the flowing water is not enough, huge boulders stand steadfast, as they have for centuries, waiting for the opportunity to knock you off course, and send you onto a path of chaos and destruction. Further still, (Really? That is not enough? Dang!) there are dangerous drops littered throughout this passageway just waiting to suck you down into the deepest depths for an amount of time just a bit beyond the capacity of your lungs to provide oxygen.
These times are treacherous, indeed.
Yes, I am scared right now. I do not have all my “ducks in a row.” I am ill-prepared to handle what life is presenting to me right now. Some days are really, really difficult. Reading the daily news can put tears into my eyes or it can make my blood boil, sometimes within the same story. Life if tough right now, without a doubt. We could ALL use a little help. And that is EXACTLY what I plan to do!
This week, I sent out my first seven “letters.” These letters are nothing really. In reality, they are only 3.5″ x 3.5″ pieces of paper with some small saying written on one side. “You are Loved.” “I miss you.” “I Care.” And “Thank you for being my Friend.” They aren’t even printed on quality paper. If I am honest, they are not so impressive.
And yet… they are power. They are action. They are movement forward. They are myself doing SOMETHING to make this world a better place. On one side of each letter, there is some design. Some piece of my soul that I offer as a gift (Some are better than others, but they are all unique). On the other side though are the words of my soul that I most need others to know. If you have received a “letter”, it is because you are valuable to me. If you have not received a letter, please be patient, it will come. If you do not know me and would like to receive a letter, find me on Facebook and I will make it happen.
Yea, the world is pretty messed up currently. Yes, life is really tough. But I am not helpless. Neither are you! We can ALL do things to make things better. Small steps can lead to big changes. I wish you the best. Take good care.
