Please Take Care of Yourself…
I know. I know. It is so easy to look around the World as it is now and begin to say to yourself, “If this person did this and this person no longer did all these things and if this group of people would just stop existing all together… then the world would be good. It might be great even, near perfection… if only everyone did exactly what I told them to do.”
I see SO many people in this world right now forcefully trying to impose their own ideologies on all the rest of us… and I am worried. Although I am not a Bible scholar, I do know that in the story of Mary Magdalene Jesus states these words, “Let those of you without sin cast the first stone.”
I do not know your story, but I admit very freely I am NOT without sin in my life. There is SO much work I need to do in my own life before I begin to seek out others and try to correct their lives. For me personally, I make a conscience decision not to cast stones (as much as is possible, I am very much a fallible human after all) without first taking a long, hard look at my own life in the mirror.
If we do truly want to make the world a better place, making ourselves a better human being in this World might be a good place to start.
I agree that the world can be positively affected by those who strive to be better human beings.
I read a book by Elizabeth Gilbert recently where she wrote, “The search for contentment is, therefore, not merely a self-preserving and self-benefiting act, but also a generous gift to the world.”
On the flip side, what do you think is the underlying cause of all the sorrow and trouble in our world? Does it have roots in and is it manifested only by the actions of the kinds of people that you describe?
Are all these people (prominent figures, and those unknown) discontent, and is that discontent and the resulting actions of that discontent affecting the well-being of the world as a whole?
(You don’t have to respond to this now, as I know you’re busy this week. Your words got me thinking though, and it’s better than that dinky ‘like’ button. 😉)
Holy Goodness, Betsy! I am not quite sure who you think I am or how smart you think I am but these are questions that have been around since humankind was capable of such questions… I don’t have the answers… but we can try to figure it out over coffee or a drink sometime. 😉 Thank you for reading and actually thinking about what I write. It is appreciated even though you probably go MUCH deeper than I am capable! I will think of my answer and have something ready for whenever you are ready!
