Free?

Free… Nice concept, but there is no such thing in this world. Life itself requires the ultimate payment from each of us in the end. Free? No such thing… Today, I heard Zorhan Mamdani state that he needs ONLY ten billion U.S. dollars to fund all of his “free” policies. BILLION. $10,000,000,000.00. Hmmm… In addition to the largest budget New York City has ever passed?

New York City has already passed a 115.9 billion dollar budget for fiscal year 2025 – 2026. The LARGEST budget in its HISTORY. A simple Google search reveals that key funding areas are immigration services, food assistance, and cultural diversity initiatives. I wish New York and its citizens only the best, but NOTHING IS FREE!

I, personally, have significant worries about “the cost of free services”, monetarily and otherwise, and I will be paying attention.

I can’t say I completely agree but I do understand. That is a LOT of money.

I know some have the opinion that Trump is trying to shake things up in a different way to change the bigger picture…maybe this Mamdani is trying to do the same thing on the opposite side of the spectrum.

I’m not educated enough to have a TRUE opinion. I just wonder why now it seems people think things always have to be so extreme—so polarized one way or the other.

Betsy, I have NO PROBLEM with people trying to “shake up the system”, no matter which side of the aisle you might sit on. What DOES bother me is when ANY government promises “free.” There is NOTHING free in this world… there is ALWAYS going to be a price to EVERYTHING! Further, what I worry about even more is the WHY a politician would promise things for FREE. I don’t want people to be “dependent” on the government. I want, and I work extremely hard every day, to lift people up and convince them they can stand on their OWN TWO FEET, without assistance and being dependent on “others.” I believe in the individual and the power and abilities that are God-given within each of us! The history of governments “giving away free services” is NOT STELLAR… In my eyes, government is meant to “help”, not “take care of” us. Anytime I see or hear the word “free”, I will ALWAYS be cautious.
