Pictures just seem to get it done, and I actually want people to read these words… so… another pic!

Today is my birthday. No, I do not want birthday wishes or anything like that. I just would appreciate if you would read these words… and think a bit. I work for Hopkins Public Schools and I also work for FedEx Express. I actually have three jobs, but that is irrelevant. This last quarter for FedEx was the best quarter, as per profits, that the company has on record. This last year was a HUGE year for profits for FedEx. FedEx will make billions of dollars in profit this year! Actually, this whole year so far, the only thing I have heard so far at FedEx is how well they are doing and how much money they are making.

FedEx has not paid ANY income tax for the last three years! NONE! I make less than $18.00/hour working a very fast-paced, difficult manual labor position at FedEx.

Hopkins Public Schools needs to cut $2,500,000 from next year’s budget. Two-and-a-half million dollars! That is a HUGE amount of money. People that have worked very hard for their positions and have sacrificed A LOT just to have the chance to make positive changes in children’s lives for years will no longer have a position in a school at the end of this school year. One teacher who has been in Hopkins Public Schools for 24 years no longer has a position because his program has been cut. Programs that are vital to the health and development of America’s youth will be cut and no longer available. The youth of America in public education are going to suffer greatly. This is not only happening in Hopkins. This is happening everywhere…
