In working with children, it has been my experience that the divorce of one’s parents never really leads to benefits for the children. In many ways, it almost always leads to detriments. I would actually argue that many of the problems we now face in America stem from the prevalence of divorce and fractured family structures in this nation.

However, this is not what I am thinking about this week. I don’t know how to word this properly, but this is my effort. For those who stormed the United States Capitol Building and those who support such actions, and for those who wish to jail, banish, destroy or otherwise “separate” themselves from those who took such actions, for all those who somehow wish to “divorce” themselves from some inherent aspect of life here in America, for all of us basically, what is your vision of the future? What country are you going to leave for your children? Are we willing to destroy everything just to prove… something?

In a divorce, no one wins. EVERYONE LOSES.
