The War in Gaza…

I do not write these words without thought or research… or a pain in my heart. I do not believe War is the answer… and I can only IMAGINE the atrocities and pain it causes… but I DO THINK War can be necessary. I do NOT want this blog to be political but I DO want this blog to express care and compassion and concern for HUMANITY.

If you truly care about the Palestinians and the people of Gaza, including all the children (for whom this post is MOSTLY written), Hamas should not continue. Hamas was given the opportunity. Hamas is now attacking its own, stealing food and vital supplies needed by its people, and then selling these supplies at exorbitant prices back to those whom they are supposed to govern and protect and care for… these are NOT simply media talking points. I urge ALL OF US to research.

I write these words because I work with and care about children, as a professional. But my heart is breaking seeing what is happening in Gaza, especially with the knowledge that so many children are suffering. It is hard for me to support a war, but I CAN NOT support Hamas. ALL CHILDREN in this World deserve to thrive. However, in order to thrive, ALL OF US, including those in Gaza, need to survive. Water, food, shelter, the most basic of necessities. I do not think War is the answer… but I do think sometimes it is necessary…

You are correct in that we do need to do the research and be aware. Nowadays when I turn to Google to learn about what’s happening in our world, it’s hard to know anymore what is true and what is propaganda. I don’t feel I know enough accurate information about all the history and politics of that region to truly have an opinion…but taking all politics out of it, I DO know that children and the undefended ANYWHERE in our world do NOT deserve treatment such as what you described. And if something isn’t helping and is actually hurting, another solution does need to be found.

I admire your willingness to take a stand and share your opinion.

Betsy, I think the unfortunate reality of things is that EACH of us are going to NEED to take a stand and share our opinions of where we stand… in my eyes, the World is standing at the edge of a very scary and dangerous precipice… I hope I am wrong.
