Ignorance is NOT acceptable!
“I don’t know who the Proud Boys are. I mean, you’ll have to give me a definition, because I really don’t know who they are.”
This is a direct quote taken from the whitehouse.gov website. It is from a transcript of President Trump’s remarks before boarding Marine One and heading to Minnesota. These words were taken from brief remarks that were timetamped on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 2:34 pm and given on the South Lawn of the White House.
The President of the United States of America is claiming ignorance of a highly visible far-right group that has been intimately involved in many of the protests and violence that has roiled America during the past months, if not years. A group that has been a continual part of the news cycle with enough coverage that an ordinary citizen such as myself is aware of their presence here in America.
And yet, the President of the United States of America claims NOT to know who they are. Really?
Dear Mr. President,
It is YOUR JOB to know who the Proud Boys are! It is YOUR JOB to assess whether they present a threat to other Americans! Whether right-wing, left-wing, domestic or international, it is YOUR JOB to KNOW of these groups! It is YOUR JOB to protect ALL Americans and those who live here from ALL threats!
If you are unable or unwilling to perform your job duties, please step down from your position. Claiming ignorance is NOT an excuse you are allowed to employ. Thank you.
